News: UPGRADED PICO AVAILABLE NOW: Handheld electronic video magnifier offers new high contrast reading op
Description: Sunnyvale, CA- Telesensory Corporation announced today the release of the upgraded Pico hand-held video magnifier. The upgrade builds on the popular Portable product line, offering several new advancements including a new high contrast display as well as positive text, and yellow on blue viewing modes. The portable Pico video magnifier is designed to assist people with low vision impairments such as macular degeneration by magnifying text and photos.

Pico’s sleek, lightweight, design enables people with low vision to carry the device with them anywhere. Weighing only ten ounces, and just over one-inch thick, the Pico fits easily in a pocket or purse. Its versatile folding legs allow users to vary magnification from 3X to 11X original size. Also, Pico’s rubber grips provide ergonomic handling.

"This upgrade underscores Telesensory’s commitment to respond to customer feedback and address customer needs," said Telesensory CEO Ken Stokes. "Our customers wanted more viewing options and a high-bright display-so we delivered it to them. Now users can enjoy even more functionality in this convenient hand-held device."

Commenting on the merits of the Pico, customer Vickie Lowe said, "I never even knew what a menu looked like (until Pico). But now I can read the menu and decide what I want on my own. It may seem like a small thing, but it makes all the difference for me."

Specifications With this recent upgrade, Telesensory extends Pico’s ease-of-handling and performance with the following advancements:

Two New Viewing Modes - Pico now offers two new viewing modes: positive text mode, which provides black text on a white background; and yellow text on a blue background mode, which many people prefer for more comfortable contrast.

High-bright Display - A new brighter display and increased viewing angle makes it easier for people to read on the go.

Convenient Power Source - Users of the Pico upgrade will now be able to charge the unit with a standard AC adapter power setup. This streamlined arrangement is similar to that of a laptop computer.

The Pico upgrade maintains the top-of-the-line features offered in the previous model, including:
  • One-button on/off and mode select
  • Illumination control to reduce glare on electronic displays such as ATM or cell phone screens.
  • 4" color LCD display
  • Fold-down legs for writing and adjusting magnification
